Iquitos is based in the heart of the Rainforest, located in Loreto province in the northeast of Peru. It boasts some interesting period buildings covered in ceramic tiles which date from the rubber boom of the late nineteenth century. It is a bustling city population of approximately 360,000 habitants and has a slightly frontier appeal to it. The mighty Amazon river is right on its doorstep.
It possesses an international airport, excellent restaurants, bars, casinos, pubs, banks and good hotels (including a 5 star).
